Chinese aircraft entered Taiwan’s air defence zone again

Chinese aircraft entered Taiwan’s air defence zone again.

Key highlights. 1. 9 Chinese aircraft entered Taiwan’s air defence zone. 2. Chinese have intruded many times in Taiwan’s air defence zone in recent times. 3. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has raised the speculation of the invasion of Taiwan by China.

China has increased its intrusion in Taiwan’s air defence zone in the last few years. According to Taiwan’s defence ministry, 8 Chinese J-16 fighter jets and one Y-8 reconnaissance aircraft flew in an area to the northeast of the Taiwan-controlled Pratas Island at the top end of the South China Sea, on the same day which Russia invaded Ukraine. Taiwan then, in response sent fighter jets to warn the Chines aircraft and an air defence system was deployed to monitor the activities.

China has dispatched a total of 40 military aircraft into Taiwan’s identification zone, including 22 fighter jets, 17 spotter planes, and one helicopter, so far this month [wion].

China claims Taiwan as its territory and opposes the world to accept Taiwan as a free country but Taiwan has declared itself an independent country. Taiwan is not recognised by the UN but has it’s embassy in different countries.

The 1979 Taiwan Relations Act passed in the US senate provides the legal basis for the unofficial relationship between the United States and Taiwan, and enshrines the U.S. commitment to assist Taiwan in maintaining its self-defence capability. Following this act, the US provides weapons to Taiwan so that they could increase their self-defence capabilities. China condemns US for defence assistance provided to Taiwan.

With the passage of the Taiwan Travel Act by the US Congress on March 16, 2018, the relationship between those two countries has increased to an official and high-level basis. This act allows high-level officials of the United States to visit Taiwan and vice versa. After this act, the US actively helps Taiwan.

It is expected by the whole world that one day China would invade Taiwan and occupy it. If it happens so then the Chinese dictatorship in the south china sea will increase to the next level and would be a threat to the peace in Asia, especially the area neighbouring china.
