ICC Women’s World Cup 2022: Indian women continues to maintain their winning streak against their arch rivals.

Synopsis. 1. Indian women’s team have started their world cup campaign with a terrific win. 2. Indian team had won the toss and chosen to bat first. 3. Indian team had scored 244 for 7 in 50 overs. 4. Pakistani team managed to score 137 only losing all it’s wickets in 43 overs. 5. Indian team won the match by 107 runs.

Indian women team have maintained their winning streak against Pakistan women team in world cup as they have defeated their arch rivals by 107.

Captain Mithali Raj had won the toss and decided to bat first. India didn’t get the start as they would have thought and lost the first wicket very early on the last ball of 3rd over, young gun Shefali Verma got bowled by Diana Baig. But S Mandhana and Deepti Sharma’s 92 run partnership gave the Indian side a sigh of relief. Indian side lost their 2nd wicket on the score of 96 in the last ball of 22nd over, Deepti Sharma got bowled by N.Sandhu. This breakthrough was the turning point of the Indian inning as they lost consecutive wickets and good looking Indian team was 114 for 6. Indian team scored only 18 runs and lost 4 wickets between 22 and 32 overs. Indian team was in big trouble then 122 run partnership between P. Vastrakar and S. Rana rescued the Indian side and helped India to put 244 run, a fighting total on board. S Rana and P Vastrakar played brilliant innings of 53 off 48 and 67 off 59 respectively.

Pakistani openers gave a slow start to their team. They scored only 26 runs in the first powerplay. Indian pacers duo of Meghna Singh and Jhulan Goswami kept things tight. Spinners didn’t bowl loose delivery and pressure played its part and the Pakistani women’s team got bundled out for 137 runs in 43 overs. Not even a single Pakistani player showed the grit like S Rana and P Vastrakar showed in the first inning. Rajeshwari Gayakwad was outstanding with the ball with the figure 10-0-31-4. Indian women team was great with the ball today.

Indian women’s team skipper Mithali Raj said that they did win the game but there are some areas that they need to work on. She also said that they have a good all-rounder that provides their batting lineup depth and hoped that P Vastrakar would recover quickly.

Bismah Mahroof, the skipper of Pakistani women said that they were in the game for most of the time but they gave easy runs which resulted in the loss of momentum, they should have bowled better. She also mentioned that they need to improve batting performance.

P Vastrakar, the player of the match said that she was very happy as this first player of the match award. She further added that she loves to bat in a tough situation and at the time of batting along with S Rana she had planned to cross 200 runs as it was slow pitch to bat on. She hoped that she would be fit before the next match.
