Synopsis. 1. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced to demilitarize Ukraine. 2. Russian Army has started the invasion of Ukraine. 3. Putin had made Donetsk and Luhansk independent earlier. 4. Many countries have sanctioned Russia for its move on Donetsk and Luhansk.
Past few days the whole world was speculating whether Russia would attack Ukraine or not. Today all speculation ended with the Russian attack on Ukraine. Russia has made its move one by one. They, first of all, sent their troops to the border then placed their artillery, tested their hypersonic missiles, declared Donetsk and Luhansk independent and now they have started the invasion of Ukraine.
The Russian army has entered Donetsk and Luhansk earlier. Thursday morning Putin said, “I have decided to conduct a special military operation… to protect people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide and we will strive for the demilitarisation and denazification of Ukraine”. Also, he asked the army of Ukraine to step back and further he said that Russia doesn’t want to occupy Ukraine but they feel alienated with the way the US and their allies are expanding their NATO alliance. After the statement Russian army started the invasion of Ukraine. So far Russia has destroyed Ukrainian airbases also 5 fighters jets of the Russian army have been shot down by the Ukrainian army. As time passes by both sides will report more and more casualties because Ukrainians are not going to show their backs. Ukraine has trained their citizens who can fight to use weapons. So they are going to show resistance and many casualties would be reported in future.
In a recent address to the Russian people, Zelensky in the Russian language said “I would like to address the citizens of Russia directly, not as president, but as a citizen of Ukraine, and I address the citizens of Russia as I would the citizens of Ukraine. We share a more than 2000 kilometre border. Your soldiers have stationed all along with it, almost two hundred thousand soldiers, and thousands of military vehicles. Your leaders have chosen for them to take a step forward and into the territory of another country. And that single step could be the beginning of a great war on the European continent. Further, he said we know for sure that we don’t need the war, not a cold war, not a hot war, not a hybrid war but if we are attacked by enemy troops we will defend ourselves you will see our faces not our back if you attacked us. He replied to every remark made by Putin very firmly.
The day before the invasion Russia has made some demands to the world. 1. Accept Donetsk and Luhansk as independent nations. 2. Give assurance that Ukraine would not join NATO in future. 3. Ukraine would never develop nuclear weapons.
US replied that neither US nor its allies are going to accept Donetsk and Luhansk as independent nations. further US said that Ukraine is an independent nation so free to act as per their wish i.e. Ukraine could join NATO as per their wish and also develop nuclear weapons.
Post-Ukrainian division world leaders had announced to sanction Russia. Germany has stopped Nord 2 project. The UK has frozen Russian banks and businessmen to do any kind of transactions. Similarly many countries has sanctioned the Russia.
But Russian invasion has compelled the world to think more and change its strategy. UK, France and many European countries have set meetings on this issue on an immediate basis post-invasion. The US has also warned Russia of harsh sanctions that Russia could imagine.
According to China Xinhua News Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying blamed the United States for the Ukraine-Russia crisis currently unfolding. “When the US drove five waves of NATO expansion eastward all the way to Russia’s doorstep…, did it ever think about the consequences of pushing a big country to the wall?”
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that “the target is the stability in Europe and the whole of the international peace order, and we will hold President (Vladimir) Putin accountable for that”.
NATO Countries near Ukraine has reinforced their eastern boundaries with troops. As a change in the policy, the US has sent its troops to Latvia near St. Pittsburgh to distract and put some pressure on Russia. On possible west interference, Putin said, “Whoever tries to stand in our way or create threats for our country and people should know Russia’s response will be immediate and lead you to consequences you have never encountered in your history”.
